Hello
This is my story
Although born and raised in Ontario, Kathleen has spent her adult life in Saskatchewan and is a true prairie girl at heart. Kathleen began pursuing her passion for visual arts from the time she could hold a crayon. She imprinted her unique style, and left drawings for her mom to find on the underside of coffee tables and chairs, and anywhere her little hands could reach.
With over 25 years of painting, Kathleen has developed her skills through her curiosity and exploration of new techniques and mediums in addition to attending art programs at Georgian College and the University of Regina Fine Arts. Her early paintings were predominately watercolour; however, she now paints in all mediums specifically acrylic, oil and mixed media.
Whether she is painting the glistening sun off the southern Saskatchewan lakes, the glow of a bonfire through a wine glass or an evening prairie sunset, she paints what she loves and follows her heart.
Kathleen is primarily a landscape painter and her style can be described as impressionistic with her loose brush strokes and expressionistic by her use of bold colours. She continues to grow as an artist and is currently exploring abstract landscape painting. Her work can be found for purchase from her website kathleenvonkart.com, Prairie Artists Guild spring and fall art shows and Hansen-Ross House Gallery in Fort Qu’Appelle. Please contact her directly by email for inquires or requests at Kathleen Vonk Art.
